6/19/16 - Farewell Elder Sexton

So this week was my last full week with Elder Sexton. I say goodbye to him tomorrow. :(
He's been a great trainer and companion.
He leaves for America on Thursday! and Transfers are this week I get a new companion and all that my mission president has said is that it will be a growing experience :) so that is always a little ominous.

The work was rather slow this week we got burned by a lot of appointments, so it was lots of walking. Its okay though :) Studies have been really good I'm feeling comfortable with the language, I think that I am functional I can call people and teach all of the lessons if needed.

I’ve lost 20 lbs since being in Mongolia.

I know who I am and where I'm going. It’s really awesome, never fear however, I am still me, My District Leader Elder browning is our dungeon master and we have been playing D&D during lunch last week.... it was so much fun!
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is true. If you ever are doubting or want to know with a greater certainty then you just need to read the Book of Mormon. If you feel unsure of your previously acquired truth reread the Book of Mormon, you will feel the spirit testify of its truth.

6/12/16 P-day hike to the biggest mountain we could see to the south

And playing with panoramas...

6/12/16 A different approach to email.

So this week you all get some selections from my journal instead of a big email. Give you a good look into the brain of this missionary. I imagine, dad, that you'll be happy for more details and experiences.
Happy birthday to my mother!
It turns out that it can rain a lot in Mongolia, two days this week was just terrible downpour. On Friday we got caught in it, the thunder sounded like a bomb and it hailed and rained like nothing I'd ever seen, it was so cold too!
The more that I am understanding and caring for the people, the more stressed that I become for their welfare, I'm glad that I'm not a parent. :)

6/8/16 we walked to the city

The Work this week was incredible! All week long we have had incredible finding opportunities! We found and have begun teaching 2 new families! We have had a lot of really meaningful contacts lots of people this week came up to us to ask us about the church, a lot of interested people and lots of new potential investigators. The branch is doing pretty well there may be an elders quorum activity this Saturday. The other Elders are having a baptism this week and we are putting on a talent show, which hopefully works out really well in bringing the branch closer together as well as getting people to invite their friends! Studies were rough as I really really pushed it this week to meet my goal of June Sixth to finish My 42 principle notebook... But I did it! I did only that during my personal and language studies. Next week I'll catch up on my Book of Mormon- Faith and Miracles Study I'm really excited to go back to doing something else.
I've been running every morning for the past 3 weeks and it is doing great things for being healthy!
I finished my 42!!! And I'm learning diligence by doing hard things and meeting my goals.
We walked to the City from Nalthahk (how its pronounced) there was a big holiday children’s day and we were going to the city that night for zone conference the next day. After 2 hours on the bus and only halfway there we decided to get off and walk, it was pretty cool story and way crazy of an experience, we got in just after 11, way before the bus!

this one kid that had avatar hair we asked to take a picture. Some kids think that we're Russian some think American but some think that we are Korean... weird right?

pictures, crowded bus on children’s day, walking etc.

when was the last time you got a coke in a glass bottle for a quarter?

one sketchy building we went into probably haunted

5/29/16 last week in Mongolia – a new stake!

Our blind investigator, Battor is doing much better, he has started to get some help from the Red Cross! They are helping him with Medical stuff and getting him a new ger that we're going to help set up on Tuesday! I started the book of Mormon again and I'm studying Faith and Miracles, It’s been really cool to see how Nephi grows because of his faith between chapters 3 and 16 of first Nephi, while Laman and Lemuel for the most part stay the exact same in the time period. Progression is beautiful, and we do so by living the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Faith Repentance Baptism Receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost and Enduring to the End. Language is doing well, I realize that I can actually make phone calls and schedule appointments. It’s hard sometimes to talk to people because when they see that my companion is a lot better than me they tend to only talk to him.
Digging Latrines is a great service! We found a less active member and offered to dig one for her, hopefully we can help her and soften her heart to come to church!

English ended last week, and it’s a nice break! We shouldn't have to go back to the city very much these next couple of weeks!
The Nalaikh (Nathak) branch once a part of the Mongolia East district is now a part of the Mongolia East Stake!!!! Mongolia's Second Stake was organized yesterday by Elder Wong (70) and Elder Toronto (Asia Area 70). It is such a blessing to have helped bring another Stake to Mongolia! It will really bless the country and prepare the way for a temple in Mongolia!

(Editor's note: more Q&A from side emails.)

I thought you said your school only had a few weeks left. What happens afterward?
What do teachers do during summer breaks? Just back to more missionary work, without having to teach English we have more time to teach lessons.

 More latrines?
Yes, we actually found a less active and offered to dig her one too this week! Apparently no one likes to do it so if we offer they don't seem to say no! Its actually a childhood dream come true, to just dig a really big hole!

Are you assigned to that school the entire 2 years?
Generally yes. I say generally because 'they'- the mission office is working on getting us out of teaching children, we'll probably work for the same organization maybe switch to teaching an older class, hopefully! But I should be with the same school/Organization for the whole time.

Ohhh let me tell you... Pizza Hut is in UB the phone number is like 7555 5555 haha, ads have been all over the city. The mission ordered it one day for a zone conference and it was really tasty. It’s pretty expensive otherwise. We don't actually eat out very much but are planning on it next month ‘cause its Elder Sextons last 3 weeks as a missionary so we're going to live.
